Chelsy Van Overmeiren is an attorney whose career has been built in the courtroom. Before joining Kaveny Sarmas Injury Lawyers, Chelsy spent seven years at a boutique criminal defense firm in Chicago where she developed a reputation as a relentless and versatile trial lawyer. She has tried over 14 cases to verdict including four federal jury trials, two state jury trials, and eight bench trials. Chelsy is a lawyer who is just as ready to stand before a jury as she is to negotiate a settlement, providing her clients with leverage at the table no matter where the case leads. Her advocacy has been recognized nationally: she was named a Super Lawyers Rising Star (2023-2026) and a National Trial Lawyers Top 40 Under 40 (2024-2026).
Chelsy earned her law degree at Chicago-Kent College of Law where she received a CALI Award for Excellence in Conflicts of Law, Dean’s Honor List (Fall 2017 & Spring 2018), and competed across the country on Chicago-Kent’s nationally ranked trial team. After graduating, she continued to teach and mentor students in law school. As an Adjunct Professor, she taught Trial Advocacy I & II, coached trial advocacy teams, and judged numerous competitions – passing on the courtroom skills she now dedicates to her clients.
