2026 Scholarship Winner: Kathryn Haertzen
Kathryn Haertzen is originally from St. Louis Park, Minnesota. She is graduating from the University of Notre Dame in May with a degree in Political Science and will attend the University of Minnesota Law School in the fall of 2026.
In her words: I am truly honored to be this year’s Kaveny Sarmas 2026 Resilient Student Scholarship winner. As a low-income, first-generation law student, winning this scholarship means that my educational journey is more accessible. I know firsthand how important it is to have a support system when you cannot fight for yourself, and I look forward to pursuing a career of unrelenting advocacy as a lawyer. Everyone, no matter their socioeconomic status or age, deserves someone in their corner willing to go the extra mile to get them justice.
